PopSockets and Environmental Impact

PopSockets are little life changers but we also make sure our environmental impact remains as low as possible. The company takes responsibility for our products at every stage of their lifecycle and is always looking at innovations and opportunities for improvement.

Recycling:
This year we piloted a program in the USA to recycle all PopSockets plastics, paperboard and any brand of the cell phone case. Our partners at TerraCycle turned more than 500 pounds of materials into new items such as car bumpers. The program is paused due to the COVID-19 crisis and we hope to reinstate it by 2021.

Packaging:
In late 2019 we began using FESC-certified sustainably forested materials for all core product packaging. Our packaging is 100% recyclable, and we produced 20% fewer pounds of packaging in 2019 than in 2018.
Materials:
Since 2018, our designers and engineers have been working hard to incorporate and transition to non-virgin plastics and compostable materials. There is still plenty of sourcing and testing to complete before we can bring these products to market however we are getting closer. Quality is our top priority - PopSockets are built to last the life of your phone/phone case, and their longer life cycle is ultimately better for the planet.

Emissions:
Over the next 3 years, our goal is to reduce our shipping emissions by 50% and opting for ocean or ground transport whenever possible. We also completed a product life cycle analysis to establish baseline manufacturing emissions rates and set reduction goals.
